POSITION OVERVIEW:
We’re seeking an entry-level Low-Voltage Cabling Technician (System Installer – Level 1) to join our Low-Voltage Division.
This is a Tier 1 role designed for candidates with 3–12 months of experience in low-voltage cabling, electrical, construction, or a related field who want to build a career in structured cabling and low-voltage systems.
You will work under the direction of senior technicians to install and support low-voltage cabling systems for data, voice, video, and security, while learning industry standards and best practices.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with and under the guidance of more experienced technicians, you will:
Cable Installation & Support Structures
- Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and fiber)
- Install support structures such as cable racks/trays, j-hooks, D-rings, inner duct, and related hardware
- Assist with installing and labeling patch panels, jacks, faceplates, and other termination hardware
- Help with installation of Wireless Access Points (WAPs)
System Support & Basic Troubleshooting
- Assist with installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of structured cabling systems (data, voice, video), surveillance, burglar, and fire alarm cabling under supervision
- Perform testing and validation of installed cabling to ensure compliance with standards, following documented procedures and direction from senior staff
- Help identify and resolve straightforward cabling/connectivity issues
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain basic documentation of installations, cable routes, terminations, and service activities
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and, when needed, with clients on-site
- Follow given wiring diagrams and installation instructions for assigned tasks
Safety & Professionalism
- Use basic hand tools and small power tools (crimpers, strippers, drills, etc.) safely and correctly
- Follow all safety practices, including proper lifting, ladder use, and working in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces, etc.)
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and wear company uniform during project-related duties (unless otherwise directed)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Education
- 3 months to 1 year of experience in low-voltage cabling, electrical, construction, or a related technical field (entry-level candidates welcome)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certification in low-voltage systems or related field is a plus, but not required
Skills & Competencies
- Basic knowledge of low-voltage systems (structured cabling, telecommunications, or security)
- Understanding of basic cabling standards and installation techniques
- Ability to understand basic wiring diagrams and installation instructions
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow established procedures
- Basic troubleshooting skills and a strong desire to learn
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
- Ability to work independently on simple tasks and as part of a team on larger projects
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to commute to Clarksville, TN 37043 (or relocate before starting work)
- Willingness to travel to customer locations, including outside of Montgomery County (up to ~50% based on project needs)
Ability to:
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Work in small/awkward spaces (crawl spaces, attics)
- Climb ladders and work at varying heights; experience with boom/scissor lifts is a plus
Please note that this position may require occasional travel to customer locations outside of Montgomery County.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
