Regional School Nurse:
Reporting directly to the Health Services Director, the Regional School Nurse implements, manages and delivers school health services to school districts and /or agencies. The school nurse scope of practice is defined by law and regulation and professional school nursing standards.
School District LPN:
Under the direction of the Regional School Nurse, the School District LPN implements, manages and delivers school health services to schools districts and /or agencies. The school nurse scope of practice is defined by law and regulation and professional school nursing standards.
Salary:
LPN: $32.89 per hour
RN: $$42.59 per hour
Offers are made at the entry level of the range.
Assignment:
We are building a substitute pool for School Nurses - RN or LPN. Substitutes are on-call, as needed. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Essential Functions:
Regional School Nurse

Assess the critical health needs of students in schools, i.e., review Emergency Care Plans (ECP) for students with life threatening medical conditions, medically fragile students, students with health concerns and/or requiring nursing treatments.

Collaborate and consult with administrators and other staff to identify school safety and environmental health needs.

Assess the physical and emotional health of students within the scope of the Regional School Nurse practice; initiate referrals for diagnosis and treatment of identified health needs; and communicate health concerns that impact learning to staff.

Coordinate and implement mandated health screenings, including referral and follow-up.

Supervise, train and delegate medication administration and nursing treatments as allowed by law.

Provide health counseling and crisis intervention to students; serve as an advocate for the health rights of students and as a professional liaison between the school, family, and health community.

Perform professional nursing tasks including emergency services.

Serve as a resource for health education to the classroom teacher.

Consult and collaborate with staff, parents and other professionals to assess student health status and make recommendations that are consistent with the individualized education plan.

Collect health care services data.

May assist school districts with policies and procedures for school health services based on current laws and accepted practices.
School District LPN

Assist in Regional School Nurse in performing nursing assessments.

Within LPN scope of practice and in accordance with district policies and procedures, provide nursing care to students.

Implement student health care plans and emergency plans as directed by the Regional School Nurse.

Collaborate and consult with the Regional School Nurse and other staff to identify and address school safety and environmental health needs.

Maintain accurate records pertaining to medication and treatment administration, immunizations, screening results and injury records.

Serve as an advocate for the health rights of students as a profession liaison between the school, family and health community.

Collaborate with the RSN to coordinate and implement mandated health screenings.

Collect health care services data.

Participate in health-promoting and prevention efforts.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Exposed to diseases carried by students, exposed to student noise levels.

Travel to school buildings and districts to provide services.

Ability to physically move and/or lift equipment varying in weight up to 35 lb.

Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
Employment Requirements:

Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through Washington State Patrol and FBI.

Proof of immunization/disease including MMR/Td/Hepatitis B/Varicella.
