UnityPoint Health – Trinity is a regional integrated health care delivery system including four full-service hospitals in Rock Island and Moline, Illinois and Bettendorf and Muscatine, Iowa. The integrated services available at Trinity Muscatine offer a seamless continuum of care between physician clinics, hospitals and home care services.
The hospital campus offers emergency services, physician clinics, inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and treatment services, home health, public health, and occupational medicine, providing comprehensive care to the surrounding communities. We are also supported by local orthopedic providers who offer clinic appointments within the community, provide call coverage, and perform surgical procedures on our campus

Join an established, collaborative surgical team consisting of: 1 General Surgeon and 1 Advanced Practice Provider

Supported by 3 PRN providers who provide additional coverage each month.

Practice at UPH Trinity Muscatine hospital featuring an Acute Care Unit (ACU) The facility is equipped to manage IV drips, vents, and stabilization prior to transfer when higher levels of care are needed.
- Work closely with the oncology team through weekly multidisciplinary Breast and Gastrointestinal (GI) tumor board meetings.
- Enjoy a cohesive team environment with supportive colleagues and staff that fosters collaboration while allowing for physician autonomy.
- Benefit from experienced clinical and administrative staff who have strong relationships with patients and a deep understanding of the community.
- Practice within a fully integrated health system, with seamless coordination between clinics and the hospital through the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) platform.
Responsibilities:
- Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Average clinic volume of 10–15 patients per day.
- Exciting growth opportunity with an approved grant for the da Vinci Xi 5 robotic surgical system.
- Broad, bread-and-butter general surgery practice with a case mix including gallbladder, breast, and hernia procedures, as well as colonoscopies. Approximately 75% of the practice involves endoscopic procedures.
- Trauma experience is preferred.
- 2.5 days in clinic 2 days in operating and ½ day/4 hours of administrative time

Call schedule includes every other weekend, rotating weekday and holiday call, with flexibility to explore a 7-on/7-off call model.
- Call 1:2 with a ED volume 15,000-18,000 per year

- Effectively evaluates, interprets, and coordinates clinical information to make sound patient care decisions and recommendations.
- Patient-focused, approachable, and committed to working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery
- Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
- Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician’s field of practice
- ATLS required hire

Initial 2-year salary guarantee of approximately $385,000 - $580,000 with the ability to exceed compensation and receive 100% of the upside on an innovative compensation program.

Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on an individual’s qualifications.
