Arches Medical Assistants serve as a vital connection between providers and patients, by providing high-quality clinical support, clear communication, and an exceptional patient experience. This role is responsible for welcoming and preparing the patient for their appointment gathering required patient information and ensures patients understand the services they are scheduled to receive.
As a Float Medical Assistant will report to the East Greenwich Practice Manager and will provide flexible coverage across Arches locations throughout Rhode Island, traveling to practices as assigned to help fill gaps in Medical Assistant availability. When not assigned to a specific site the position will report to the East Greenwich office. When not working as a Medical Assistant in an assigned location, the role will perform tasks related to population health and practice and provider support.
Core Responsibilities
- Travel to Arches Medical locations to fill Medical Assistant coverage gaps as assigned
- Prepares patients for examination using Arches Medical Rooming Guidelines.
- Prepares and administers medications as directed by the Physician; performs basic laboratory tests, EKGs as ordered or indicated and suture removal and dressing changes.
- Performs medical histories, provides instruction to the patient regarding medications and diet, and authorizes prescription refills as directed.
- Greets patients and answers phones
- Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms, as well as supplies and equipment.
- Monitor controls of CLIA waived tests.
- Provide front desk coverage as needed
- Perform population health and practice and provider support services when not assigned Medical Assistant duties

Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have current BLS certification for healthcare providers through American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Must have High School Diploma
- Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred
