SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week with working every 3rd weekend.
The Food Service Worker - Assistant Cook performs a variety of food service tasks to ensure deliverance of meals/food for patients, cafeteria and special meetings throughout the health systems. He/she adheres to the mission of Myrtue Medical Center in all aspects of job performance.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Willing to attend sanitation and modified diet in-services held in conjunction with regular staff meetings. One year of food service experience is desirable, but not required. Must have a general knowledge of cooking and using kitchen machines and equipment. Must be very aware and cautious of maintaining sanitary conditions.
Checks with Cook for tasks needing completed for the day. Assists in meal preparation and serving of food as directed by the Cook. Prepares vegetables for service/cooking. Assistant Cook can help prepare anything that needs to be completed for the following day. Slices meat and/or prepares sandwich filling. Washes dishes that are on the baker side of the kitchen and assists in general maintenance of work area. Assists in food storage and making sure the proper dates are on anything that is prepared. Relieves in the cafeteria when Cafeteria Worker goes on break. Performs other duties related to this position and anywhere else that might be needed throughout the kitchen.
