ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Seasonal Facilitator Assistant is an entry-level, hourly position with sessions/shifts available Monday-Saturday, within specific hours, dependent on group needs and availability.
The duties of the Seasonal Facilitator Assistant position include, but are not limited to:
- Supports the Lead and Co-Facilitator in engaging participants and fostering group safety while conducting equine-assisted learning lessons in an experiential learning group setting.

Responsible for setting up and cleaning up sessions before and after groups, ensuring all materials utilized during sessions are returned to the appropriate location.

Meets with the Lead and Co-Facilitator before group time to learn the lesson plan for the day and expectations for each role within the group.

Greets all parents and participants as they arrive at the ranch for sessions, engaging with participants while waiting for the group to begin.

Creatively guides participants by keeping them engaged safely, especially if the Lead Facilitator elects to change the original session plan at the last moment.

Supports Lead and Co-Facilitator in managing the safety of participants, volunteers, and equines participating in groups.
- Communicates any critical incidents to the Lead Facilitator, such as injuries, unwanted physical contact between participants, and any other behaviors that jeopardize the safety of any participant/animal/employee and harm to the ranch facilities or tack and equipment.
- Supports volunteers in their groups to enhance effectiveness in their role.

Responsible for adhering to the “Time Off” policy

Other duties as discussed and assigned by the Flying Horse Foundation Leadership team.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree is preferred

CPR/First Aid certification preferred
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Flexible schedule with early evening availability and some Saturday shifts required

Demeanor consistently uses a nurturing, trauma-informed approach emphasizing connection and relationships

Demonstrates adherence to Flying Horse Foundation’s ethics, policies, and procedures, aligning oneself with the Flying Horse Foundation’s beliefs to promote a positive and professional working environment

Complies with Flying Horse Foundation practices and policies concerning handling horses and other ranch animals

Ability to manage behaviors exhibited in at-risk youth and adults

Horse handling experience is highly preferred

Must be able to pass a background check

Physically able to walk across uneven terrain for periods of 60 minutes or more

This position is open only to applicants who currently reside in Colorado

Under the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), employees accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year.
