Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and age-related conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting changes in condition in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care plans.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration activities.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food safety and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Support residents during leisure activities, social outings, and community integration efforts to promote socialization and independence.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties within the facility or home setting.
- Document resident progress, update care plans, and communicate effectively with team members regarding patient status or concerns related to dementia care, autism support, or other specialized needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Experience with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, or caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques; CPR and first aid certifications are a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work compassionately with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed care plans while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
- Valid certifications in healthcare support or caregiving are desirable; willingness to obtain necessary training if not already certified.
