Overview
We are looking for an instructor available during the day. They need a martial arts background and experience teaching basic taekwondo classes or high energy fitness classes. The job entails visiting our community partners (schools, churches, parks, daycares, festivals, etc) and teaching high energy classes. The goal is to get new people to experience Taekwondo, and ideally sign up for classes.
This position is mainly during the day, as well as some early evening hours. The schedule depends on what gets scheduled, which means there's lots of opportunity to make opportunity. Which is why the position is partly COMMISSION based.
Responsibilities
- Schedule community visits throughout the week, and on a weekly basis.
- Maintain a positive relationship with our current community partners, and create new relationships as well.
- Run BASIC INTRODUCTORY TAEKWONDO classes, or other talks/seminars outlined by DTA, with high energy, positive vibes, motivational messages, and professional delivery.
- Wear DTA branded athletic, business, or martial arts attire appropriate for the event.
- Help with community events (parades, festivals, readifests, etc - all scheduled in advance).
- Set up follow up MASS INTRO classes, that you will teach on Saturday or Sunday (depending on Calendar). COMMISSION is based on sign ups from these classes, as well as community visits.
- You will also assist with a few intro level classes at DTA to be a familiar face as they transition from community member to full time DTA member.
- May involve helping new students stay engaged or motivated through the first couple belts, as well as keeping parents and new clients informed and up to date.
Experience
- Martial Arts Background (Ideally a Black Belt in Taekwondo or Karate).
- Teaching experience (Martial Arts or FITNESS)
- Experience with SALES PRESENTATIONS & closure
Skills
- Ability to create professional emails, sharp program brochures, and awesome phone messages (as some cold calling will be involved)
- Communication with all ages, both verbal and written
- Great personality, positive mindset, and happy/welcoming vibes
- Able to lead HIGH ENERGY classes, that are both safe and fun!
- Able to talk with confidence in front of large groups of people, and can command / control the room
- Comfortable promoting opportunities and making basic SALES pitch
Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
