About the Position
Defined Glass is seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on Shop Operations & Service Technician to join our growing team. This position is primarily based in our warehouse and fabrication shop, with occasional field work supporting our installation and service teams.
The ideal candidate enjoys staying organized, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable working independently while supporting the rest of the team. This role is critical to ensuring our projects are prepared, materials are organized, and our installers have everything they need before heading to the job site.
Primary Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries of glass, hardware, and other materials.
- Organize and maintain inventory of stocked products and shop supplies.
- Prepare materials for upcoming installation projects by gathering glass, hardware, accessories, and related items.
- Verify that all materials required for each project are complete and ready before installation.
- Track incoming and outgoing materials for active projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse and shop environment.
- Perform light in-house fabrication, including:
- Cutting and polishing mirrors
- Pre-drilling metal components
- Other minor fabrication and shop preparation tasks
- Assist with loading materials for daily installations.
Field Responsibilities
Approximately 20% of this position involves field work, including:
- Completing simple one-person service calls.
- Replacing shower door sweeps, gaskets, seals, and related hardware.
- Performing minor adjustments and repairs to shower doors.
- Completing basic commercial door hardware repairs, such as replacing lock cylinders and other simple hardware.
- Taking occasional field measurements or templates.
- Delivering materials to active job sites.
- Picking up materials from local suppliers when needed.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move glass, hardware, and construction materials safely.
- Comfortable using basic hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
- Previous experience in glass, construction, fabrication, warehouse operations, or a skilled trade is preferred but not required.
