Dispensary Associate
Location: NewLeaf cannabis dispensary, Fairmont, WV
Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Dispensary Associate will assist with daily dispensary operations including opening and closing procedures, patient check-in, patient communication and consultation, order fulfillment, inventory management, point-of-sale transactions, product packaging and labeling, dispensary organization, and cleaning.
The ideal candidate will have previous retail or customer service experience, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping patients navigate medical cannabis products in a compliant and compassionate environment.
Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities):
- Must have flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Passion for providing high-quality cannabis medications and exceptional patient care.
- Empathy and compassion when working with patients.
- Ability to educate patients on the benefits and potential side effects of cannabis medications.
- Ability to dispense cannabis medication in strict compliance with company SOPs and state law.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and various software platforms for sales transactions and inventory tracking.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Previous retail, inventory, or point-of-sale experience preferred.
Major Areas of Responsibility include:
- Conduct dispensary opening and closing procedures.
- Receive patient documentation and complete patient check-in processes.
- Communicate and consult with patients regarding cannabis medications and products.
- Conduct accurate point-of-sale (POS) transactions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all West Virginia medical cannabis regulations and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the dispensary.
- Respond to patient calls and emails regarding products, education, and general information.
- Manage patient records using approved software platforms.
- Maintain and update patient and product databases as needed.
- Fulfill patient orders including online and phone orders, packaging, labeling, and order assembly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work approximately 12–32 hours per week based on dispensary needs and operating hours.
- Applicants must have flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Position requires standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to use hands for manual tasks and lift or move up to 20 pounds (or more with assistance).
