Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain detailed medical records, including pet care histories, treatment plans, and laboratory results.
- Administer anesthesia, medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians while monitoring animal responses.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, scaling, and extractions.
- Handle pet grooming and pet care activities to promote comfort and hygiene for animals in our care.
- Operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring proper animal physiology conditions.
- Contribute to emergency veterinary critical care when needed by applying veterinary technician experience in high-pressure situations.
- Educate clients with confidence and empathy.
- Help mentor assistants and newer technicians while bringing calm leadership during busy moments.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician or equivalent credential (minimum 5+ years clinical experience as RVT).
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology.
- Experience working with small animals (ie, dogs, cats).
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, restraint techniques, catheterization procedures, and aseptic methods.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and diagnostic imaging such as X-ray technology.
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques for animal husbandry or pet grooming activities.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners about pet care needs.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and procedural documentation.

Pay: $27.50 - $40.00 per hour
