The Transit Parts Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventories of a variety of parts, equipment, and supplies that are required to support transit fleet and facility maintenance. The work involves ensuring accuracy of inventories in automated vehicle maintenance systems, resolving inventory discrepancies, verifying shipments and billing, and assisting fleet maintenance personnel by identifying and issuing required inventory items.
Recruitment Info: This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) career service and three (3) special duty assignment (SDA) and/or term limited temporary (TLT) Transit Parts Specialist vacancies. In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility list for future career service, special duty assignment (SDA) and term limited temporary (TLT) vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility list will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority. Applicants must be willing to work at any base location and any shift.

Testing and Interviewing Information

There will be a written and practical test. Tests will be conducted in-person at a King County building location. Candidates are tested in the basic skills and comprehension expected for incumbents for this position.

All invited candidates must participate on one of the available dates given. Candidates will have an hour to complete the test.

Candidates will be invited to interview based on their test score ranking, beginning with those who achieve the highest scores. Interviews are expected to last about 45 minutes.
Work Schedule and Location
-
This position works 40 hours per week, and is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act—meaning it is eligible for overtime pay, if scheduled. Work is performed in a 24/7 facility where there are three shifts. Work schedules and locations are based on a seniority pick system to bid for schedules a few times per year, depending on location. Employees must be able and willing to work any shift, including any combination of days off, at any King County Vehicle Maintenance location. Locations include Tukwila, SODO/ Downtown Seattle, Bellevue, and North Seattle/ Shoreline.
