Overview
An opportunity to join Jersey City's premier property team as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing complex mechanical systems that keep buildings comfortable and operational. Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately.
- Perform electrical diagnostics and mechanical repairs on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) equipment using tools such as ohmmeters and welding equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems to identify potential failures or inefficiencies; perform preventative maintenance accordingly.
- Utilize building automation systems to optimize system performance and energy efficiency.
- Repair plumbing components associated with HVAC systems and ensure compliance with EPA regulations for refrigerant handling.
- Document all service activities thoroughly and communicate effectively with team members regarding system status or required repairs.
Experience
- Proven construction experience combined with service technician background in HVAC or related mechanical fields.
- Hands-on experience working with schematics, electrical diagnostics, refrigeration systems—including ammonia refrigeration—and HVAC design principles.
- Mechanical knowledge of property maintenance tasks such as appliance repair, boiler servicing, welding, and equipment repair.
- Familiarity with HVAC/R field service operations and building automation systems is highly desirable.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; experience working with ammonia refrigeration is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and perform complex mechanical systems repair confidently.
- Prior mechanic experience in property maintenance or industrial settings preferred; valid driver’s license required for field service roles.
