Duties
- Plan and execute efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure on-time deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes
- Load and unload freight, utilizing manual handling techniques, and ensuring cargo safety and proper documentation
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to verify safety standards are met; report any maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and potential delays
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including delivery driving and route driving for various cargo types
- Strong knowledge of loading and unloading procedures
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; ability to adhere strictly to all traffic laws and safety standards
