Position Overview
The Project Engineer plays a key role in coordinating project activities, managing documentation, and supporting field operations. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to help ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Support planning and execution of commercial construction projects
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents throughout all project phases
Document Management
- Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and closeout documents
- Maintain organized and accurate project files
Schedule Support
- Assist with project scheduling and updates using tools like MS Project
- Monitor progress and help mitigate delays
Subcontractor Coordination
- Communicate with subcontractors to ensure timely deliverables and compliance
- Issue subcontract exhibits, purchase orders, and change orders
- Attend meetings and follow up on action items
Quality Assurance
- Review submittals and drawings for compliance
- Assist with inspections, punch lists, and issue resolution
Site Support
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and safety compliance
- Document findings and report updates to the team
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and updates
- Maintain strong, professional relationships
Technology & Reporting
- Utilize construction management software (e.g., Sage, client platforms)
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project data
Safety Compliance
- Participate in safety meetings and support OSHA and company standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in commercial construction or similar role
- Proficiency in Sage, MS Office, and construction management platforms
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification (required)
- Additional safety certifications are a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience on commercial projects (office, retail, healthcare, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and RFIs
- Strong teamwork and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset
- Strong verbal communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
