The Pines Senior Living, a personal care and memory care community located in Clarks Summit, PA is currently hiring a FULL TIME & PART-TIME Cook! This position will include every other weekend.
Senior Living experience preferred, but not required.
Reports To: Dining Services Director
Summary: This position is responsible for meal preparation and production necessary to fulfill the menu. Assist in supervising staff and back of house kitchen operations, while maintaining quality and consistency of all aspects of food service from ordering to preparation and serving of food. Shift times vary due to staffing needs. Kitchen is open 7a-7p.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· By using the daily menu and production sheets, gather all goods necessary for preparation of daily menus.
· Perform all duties necessary to prepare the food for service according to the prescribed menu and recipes.
· Maintain all equipment and food storage areas, refrigerators and freezers.
· Store, label and date all unused items in the appropriate storage areas.
· Plan with Dining Services Director for the use of leftovers.
· Check plates at the end of the service line for completeness.
· Maintain adequate supply of food at the correct temperatures on the service line.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Director.
· Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
· Collaborate with the food and beverage director and Cooks to prepare meals during our dining hours
· Maintain accurate food inventories
· Rotate stock items as per established procedures
· Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
· Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift

- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to read, write and carry out directions
- Experience in quality cooking, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Ability to communicate professionally with the residents, resident families, healthcare professionals and coworkers
· Excellent attendance and reference history
· Ability to work independently and handle emergency / stressful situations.
· Must have the ability to accept and perform responsibilities as outlined above.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Lifting objects up to 40 lbs.
- Bending, reaching and grasping
- Walking short distances
- Exposure to high noise levels
- Exposure to high heat and humidity levels
- Standing for long periods on hard surfaces
- Exposure to kitchen machinery, hot surfaces and slight exposure to cleaning chemicals
