Job Summary
We are seeking skilled and dedicated 6GR Welders to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will perform high-precision welding tasks within the 6G position, which involves welding in a fixed, horizontal, and overhead position.
Your expertise will contribute to building durable structures, piping systems, and metal assemblies that meet stringent safety and quality standards. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced welders eager to showcase their technical skills in a fast-paced environment that values craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork.
The project is a 60 mile transmission line starting in Vacherie and ending to close to City of Plaquemine. Project duration will be approximately 12 months.
Duties
- Execute welding operations in the 6G position using various techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and <LOCATION> welding to ensure precise, high-quality joints.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble metal components.
- Prepare materials by measuring with calipers, micrometers, and other hand tools; cut sheet metal or pipe using plasma cutters or press brake machines; and set up fabrication equipment following safety protocols.
- Perform welding on diverse materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and ductwork components while adhering to ASME codes & standards for quality assurance.
- Conduct inspections of welds using basic math skills and tools like calipers or micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances; perform non-destructive testing as needed.
- Operate power tools, rigging equipment, forklifts, and machining tools safely during assembly or fabrication processes.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials; document work progress through detailed reports; follow safety procedures rigorously on construction sites or manufacturing floors.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with construction site welding projects, especially in demanding environments requiring precision in pipe threading, assembly, or ductwork fabrication.
- Strong proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW welding techniques; experience with <LOCATION> welding is highly desirable.
- Ability to read complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings confidently.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge of rigging operations, pipe threading procedures, machining processes, soldering techniques, and schematic interpretation.
- Familiarity with ASME codes & standards governing welding practices; understanding of basic math for measurements and calculations.
- Valid experience working with construction or manufacturing teams on-site or in shop environments; ability to work safely with cranes and forklifts as needed. Join us if you’re ready to bring your welding expertise into a vibrant environment where craftsmanship meets innovation! We’re committed to supporting your growth through ongoing training opportunities while ensuring a safe workspace where your skills can shine brightly.
