Job TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
Reports to: VP OF HUMAN RESOURCES

position status: FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT
Position Summary
The HR Assistant provides administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources and assists with the daily functions of the Human Resources Department.
The HR Assistant plays an important role in ensuring HR processes are organized, timely, accurate, and consistent across the Erie Catholic School System while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the Vice President of Human Resources.
- Manage employee background clearances and required certifications, ensuring all clearances remain current and are renewed within required timeframes. Track expiration dates, notify employees and administrators of upcoming renewals, and maintain accurate documentation in personnel files.
- Perform regular and ongoing filing of employee documents to maintain organized and up-to-date personnel files.
- Assist with employee onboarding, including new-hire paperwork, background checks, and required documentation.
- Support recruitment activities and monitoring applications.
- Prepare employment-related documents, correspondence, forms, and other HR materials.
- Assist with insurance benefits administration.
- Assist with employee contracts, tracking employee leave, and other employment-related records.
- Assist with maintaining employee certification, background clearance, and other required employment records.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other HR data as requested by the Vice President of Human Resources.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of HR announcements, policies, procedures, and employee communications.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee information, compensation, personnel matters, investigations, and other sensitive HR information
- Assist with HR projects, audits, and employee surveys.
- Coordinate and oversee administrative events, office functions, staff celebrations, and other organizational gatherings.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Human Resources.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience are considered.
- Previous administrative or Human Resources experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize HR, and other administrative systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with employees, principals, and administrators.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and Catholic identity of the Erie Catholic School System.
Position Expectations
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity in all HR activities.
- Provide timely and courteous service to employees and administrators.
- Follow established HR policies, procedures, and applicable employment requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Human Resources and members of the administrative team.
- Maintain regular on-campus attendance as required by Erie Catholic School System.

Due to the nature of the position, the HR Assistant will have access to confidential employee, compensation, benefits, personnel, and employment information. Strict confidentiality is required at all times. Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information is prohibited.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office setting. Incumbent must be able to sit for extended periods of time. All ECO positions require on-campus attendance; remote work and flexible scheduling options are not offered. Professional attire, as outlined in the ECSS Administrative Dress Code, is required.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
