The Activity Coordinator is responsible for managing the household operations and activities of residents with brain and spinal cord injuries in both residential and community settings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Community Outings and Indoor Recreational Activities including:
Researching local community events
- Meeting with clients at least once per week as a group to get ideas and input for activities.
- Plan and organize to ensure staffing, transportation, client finances, etc. are handled prior to events by completing itinerary form and turning in to Staff Manager for approval.
- Update activities calendar monthly.
- Plan activities and outings that are engaging, fun and therapeutic.
- Aim for one community outing as a group or with individual clients each week.
- Aim to schedule one game, craft, activity, etc. per day for clients to do as a group with staff.
- Develop team building activities/events for staff and oversee implementation of events.
- Plan holiday parties, client birthday parties, and staff work anniversary gifts, with input and help from clients and staff.
- Transport residents to and from appointments or other community outings.
Meal Planning/Cooking:
Coordinate with Program Assistant for meal planning and grocery/supply ordering for residents when asked by Staff Manager or in the absence of the Program Assistant including:
- Sitting down with clients weekly to help them choose a healthy meal.
- Make a grocery list with the clients for items needed.
- Fill in the spots for lunches with healthy, balanced meals.
- Purchase groceries weekly.
- Ensure food is properly labeled as it comes in.
- Keep inventory in the supply room for products (soaps, gloves, wipes, etc.) and order as needed.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities:
- Ensures policy and procedures are being followed along with patient HIPPA and confidentiality.
- Assist with facility maintenance activities to ensure a safe and clean environment.
- Maintain upkeep on vehicle maintenance.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the treatment team.
- Assist with reporting, charting, and other administrative/clerical tasks.
- Serves in an on-call capacity as required.
- Completes other related duties and training as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred. Current CPR/First Aid Certification, Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Training, Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of rehab facility operations, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, computers, and office equipment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years of related experience preferred.
