The Director will be a community champion for the Crispus Attucks History & Culture Center of York County, Pennsylvania. The Director is the innovative leader of Crispus Attucks History & Culture Center (HCC), responsible for overseeing administration, developing educational and cultural programs, creating and implementing fundraising strategies, generating revenue, and developing and implementing strategic plans for the organization.
Primarily, the Director will explore, document, and showcase the African American story and impact on York as well as African Americans’ important place in and contributions to our country’s history. Through the vision, voice, creativity, and perspective of African Americans in York County, the HCC will educate the public on York’s history of slavery, segregation, civil unrest, social injustice, and activism, to aim toward change and to build a better future. The HCC will be a meeting space for the community to gather, build relationships, strengthen bonds, and learn about themselves and each other. The Director will lead staff and volunteers and have overall responsibility to execute the vision, mission, and policies of the Crispus Attucks History & Culture Center.
The Director’s role is highly interpersonal. It requires extensive skills in project management and communication. The Director will need to be able to prioritize the workload, collaborate with staff and volunteers and hold them accountable, and provide opportunities for professional growth and development.
This position is a full-time, exempt position with varying hours that includes evenings and weekends. The salary range is $68,000 to $75,000 depending on experience. The Director reports to the CEO of Crispus Attucks York.

The Crispus Attucks History & Culture Center of York County will preserve, share, and celebrate the history and values of Crispus Attucks York and African Americans and other diverse communities in York County by educating, engaging, and connecting audiences to their community so that lessons learned can be better understood, shared, and used by all.
MISSION STATEMENT
To identify and preserve Crispus Attucks York and York County African American history and connect people to the African American community for the purpose of:
Celebrating Crispus Attucks York’s history;
Providing educational experiences to a wide audience in a unique and interactive way;
Creating a space to house exhibits and open dialogue surrounding past, present, and future racial issues; and
Exploring ways to promote racial harmony.
2. Serves as the proactive spokesperson, ambassador, and chief advocate for the HCC, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with CAY families and alums, community partners and stakeholders, donors and funders, as well as other local historical and cultural organizations.
3. Collects and records memories of the vital history of Crispus Attucks York.
4. Creates and bolsters the networks that bring resources, services, and collections to the HCC.
5. Ensures the HCC’s collections and historic assets are representative of and made accessible to the community.
6. Conducts and supervises research of the York County African American experience, including oral history and community storytelling.
7. Leads fundraising planning, strategies, and execution, including foundation, government, and individual giving. Responsible for funder research, including grant opportunities, coordination of donor cultivation, and solicitations.
8. Provides management oversight of building operations, maintenance, and related personnel. Coordinates facility maintenance, rental, and health/safety measures.
9. Develops the HCC strategic plan, and in collaboration with staff and other appropriate personnel, develops and implements annual goals, action plans, and updates as needed to ensure effective execution and results.
10. Develops, implements, and supervises personnel in ensuring a robust schedule of programs and exhibits that furthers the HCC mission, vision, and strategic plan.
11. Oversees marketing and communications to increase the visibility of the HCC in the wider region and to ensure that donors, families, and the public are informed about the HCC’s programs and activities. Ensures consistent branding and messaging in marketing and communications.
12. Provides vision, motivation, and professional development for all personnel; hires, supervises, and evaluates staff and contractors; coordinates work of volunteers and contractors. Ensures a positive, healthy work culture, including compliance with all workplace policies and procedures.
13. Other duties as assigned by the CEO of Crispus Attucks York.

Experience:
