Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and machinery. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of construction machinery, industrial equipment, and farm machinery. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components using schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other construction machinery.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed to meet specific repair requirements using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques.
- Service and repair farm machinery and industrial equipment to ensure efficient operation in demanding environments.
- Execute routine inspections including tire service, alignment checks, brake repairs, HVAC systems, and heavy lifting tasks to uphold safety standards.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics tools for troubleshooting engine issues and perform diesel engine repairs with precision.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all repairs performed to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Assist with heavy equipment operation during maintenance procedures when necessary; support team members in equipment assembly or disassembly projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Service Technician in a dealership or industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, and vehicle maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and OEM manuals for accurate troubleshooting and repairs.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of using various hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on clear communication and teamwork.
- Certifications related to diesel engine repair, air brake systems, HVAC systems or heavy equipment operation are highly desirable.
