The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing behavioral health services to ensure the highest quality of care for individuals across all AABR programs, working in close collaboration with administrative staff in residential and day habilitation settings. The Director provides clinical leadership, oversight, and direction for behavioral health and behavior support services across the agency and directly supervises Behavioral Intervention Specialists (BIS) staff and clinical interns.
Specifically, you will:
- Lead, supervise, and develop Behavioral Health staff, including Behavioral Intervention Specialists and clinical interns, through recruitment, training, performance management, and clinical oversight.
- Direct behavioral health assessments, functional behavior analyses, and evidence-based treatment planning; develop and oversee Behavior Support Plans and maintain a clinical caseload.
- Monitor service quality, analyze behavioral and incident data, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement quality improvement initiatives aligned with OPWDD and agency standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, psychiatrists, medical providers, and community partners to coordinate behavioral health services, referrals, and long-term program planning.
- Provide crisis intervention, clinical consultation, staff training, and on-call behavioral health support while developing protocols and resources to improve service delivery.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, support cross-program collaboration, and provide oversight through regular travel to residential and day habilitation sites.

We require:
- Ph.D., Psy.D., or LCSW with current New York State licensure required; doctoral-level licensure preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience; experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OPWDD regulations, Positive Behavior Support, and behavioral health best practices; BCBA credential and FQHC experience are a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and team management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) documentation systems.
- Valid NYS driver's license with the ability to travel between agency sites and participate in an on-call emergency rotation.
