Hellas Construction Inc., headquartered in Austin, TX, is nationwide specializing in sports facility construction. We manufacture, install & resurface artificial turfs & synthetic surfaces while completing the design from start to finish.
Hellas is seeking candidates for the position of Bilingual Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Austin Texas. The Logistics Coordinator oversees transportation, logistics related to heavy equipment and hauling, in accordance with federal and state laws, and company policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Schedules drivers’ daily assignments depending on customer needs. Ensures that all vital information is entered in the system and communicated clearly to the driver. Routes efficiently, ensuring DOT requirements are respected. Approves drivers’ time off.
● Collaborates with other departments regarding heavy equipment: dispatches, coordinates, and routes loads; schedules equipment duration for each site and mobilization from site to site; and, optimizes efficiency / minimizes costs when scheduling preventive maintenance.
● Schedules delivery of heavy haul equipment, which may require contacting outsourced motor carriers. Tracks loads being transported.
● Outsources and approves outside motor carriers. Serves as an in-house freight broker. Approves freight rates.
● Maintains an up-to-date listing of commercial vehicles, heavy haul equipment, and assigned drivers.
● Communicates as needed with Management.
● Runs regular reports including a weekly payroll report for the heavy haul drivers based on bill of laden.
● Recommends disciplinary action for heavy haul drivers to management.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position works in an office setting. This position is sometimes required to sit for an extended period of time (7+ hours), look at a computer screen for an extended period of time, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate a computer, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. This position is regularly required to lift 3 - 5 pounds and carry that weight up to 15 feet.
When visiting construction jobsites, this position may have additional physical requirements to include but are not limited to climbing, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, and crouching. When visiting construction sites, this position may be exposed to hazardous/moving equipment or loud machinery, extreme outdoor temperatures, toxic/poisonous substances, biological/infectious agents, dust, fumes and/or allergens, vermin, insects, parasites, etc. This position will be required to wear the following protective clothing, gear, equipment and devices which include but are not limited to safety vest, hard hat, glasses, and boots.
Education and Experience
● Associates degree or experience in lieu of degree preferred
● Previous dispatch work experience in the trucking industry is a plus.
● Basic shipping and receiving knowledge
● 3PL booking or freight broker experience preferred
● Ability to successfully pass a criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting.
Skills
● Familiar with applicable laws and regulations, including FMCSA rules and regulations a plus.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Microsoft Office Suite skills preferred with the ability to learn other software packages.
● Attention to detail is critical.
