Senior Estimator | Commercial, Public & Aviation Construction

Are you an experienced Estimator who thrives on winning competitive bids and taking ownership of the entire preconstruction process? We're representing a well-established commercial general contractor and developer with a strong presence across the Houston market. With decades of construction expertise and a diverse portfolio spanning public infrastructure, aviation, multifamily, and large-scale commercial projects, the company has built a reputation for delivering complex projects for municipal, institutional, and private-sector clients.
Due to continued growth and an active project pipeline, the team is seeking a Senior Estimator who can operate independently, lead hard-bid pursuits, and play a key role in securing future work.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the complete hard-bid estimating process from solicitation through submission

Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements

Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates

Develop accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing strategies

Analyze labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs

Identify project risks, opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives

Assemble and submit complete, compliant bid packages

Cultivate and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

Solicit competitive pricing from qualified trade partners

Review, level, and compare subcontractor proposals

Ensure broad participation from subcontractor and vendor networks

Negotiate scopes and clarify coverage prior to bid submission

Manage estimates for municipal, government, infrastructure, aviation, and commercial projects

Ensure compliance with public procurement requirements and deadlines

Review bid instructions, contract documents, and qualification requirements

Coordinate with operations and project teams to support successful project handoff

Assist in identifying and pursuing new project opportunities

Develop and maintain relationships within the construction community

Support leadership in market expansion efforts

Contribute to strategic planning and pipeline development

Serve as a trusted advisor during preconstruction and client engagement activities
What We're Looking For

7+ years of estimating experience within a General Contractor environment

Proven experience managing hard-bid public or commercial construction projects

Strong understanding of bidding procedures, procurement processes, and competitive pricing strategies

Experience preparing estimates for ground-up and renovation projects

Ability to independently manage multiple pursuits with minimal supervision

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, scheduling, and cost controls

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
