Welder/Fabricator – Night Shift
Schedule: Full-Time, Night Shift
Work Hours: 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., 8-hour shift plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break
Overtime: May be required based on production needs
Job Summary
The Night Shift Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, fitting, and welding metal structures, components, and industrial equipment, including concrete batch plants, silos, support structures, hoppers, conveyors, and frames, in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Tensik Industries’ quality standards.
This position ensures that all fabricated components meet required design tolerances, weld quality, surface finish, and safety requirements. The Welder/Fabricator contributes directly to the company’s production efficiency, delivery schedules, and overall product quality.
The selected candidate must be available to work the night shift beginning at 5:00 p.m. for eight working hours per day. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production schedules and project demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, engineering documents, and technical diagrams.
- Perform layout, cutting, fitting, tacking, assembly, and welding operations.
- Perform MIG/MAG and Stick welding, and TIG welding when required, depending on the material and project specifications.
- Work with carbon steel, structural steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, piping, and other industrial materials.
- Execute structural welding and assembly while maintaining proper alignment, dimensions, joint preparation, and fit-up.
- Perform welding in multiple positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Operate shop tools and equipment, including presses, saws, plasma cutters, grinders, drills, and other metal fabrication machinery.
- Visually inspect welds and perform basic integrity and dimensional checks to confirm compliance with quality requirements.
- Verify measurements, tolerances, hole locations, angles, and component alignment throughout the fabrication process.
- Collaborate with engineering, production supervisors, and quality control personnel to resolve fabrication issues or make necessary adjustments.
- Report production progress, drawing discrepancies, equipment issues, and material shortages to the supervisor.
- Assist with the pre-assembly, fit-up, and testing of equipment before shipping or field installation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper PPE use, material handling, equipment care, and storage requirements.
- Complete assigned work efficiently and meet production deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of proven experience in structural welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, structural, and industrial blueprints.
- Proficiency in MIG/MAG and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.
- Ability to perform welds in vertical and overhead positions.
- Experience working with structural steel, galvanized steel, piping, and heavy industrial components.
- Strong measurement, cutting, fitting, layout, and alignment skills.
- Ability to safely operate common metal fabrication tools and machinery.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA safety regulations or equivalent industrial safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team during the night shift.
- Experience fabricating concrete batch plants, silos, heavy equipment, conveyors, hoppers, or industrial machinery is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Full-time night shift position beginning at 5:00 p.m.
- Eight working hours per day, excluding the unpaid meal break.
- Industrial shop environment with exposure to noise, heat, sparks, fumes, dust, and heavy materials.
- Mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs.
- Must be able to perform welding in multiple positions, including overhead and vertical positions.
- Must be able to safely work at heights of up to 10 feet and access scissor lifts or boom lifts.
- Must be able to move throughout the shop and job sites, including uneven terrain, stairs, ramps, and elevated work areas.
- Must be available to travel to job sites when required.
- Job-site work may include outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands
The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently. Assistance or mechanical lifting devices must be used when appropriate for heavier or awkward materials.
The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, push, pull, and work in confined or elevated areas for extended periods. The employee must also be able to climb into and out of scissor lifts or boom lifts and perform work at heights when required.
