Our client delivers top-tier protection systems across private, public, industrial, commercial, and cutting-edge Data Center sectors. They are looking for a skilled, safety-conscious Lightning Protection Installation Technician to join their growing field team and play a pivotal role in securing critical infrastructure.
Purpose of the Role
In this position, you will oversee and execute the end-to-end installation of advanced lightning protection and grounding systems. You will ensure that every component—from roof-level air terminals down to the ground grid—is flawlessly installed and compliant with strict US standards (including NFPA 780, UL 96A, and LPI-175). If you enjoy dynamic hands-on work, traveling to diverse project sites, and making a tangible impact on large-scale infrastructure safety, this role is for you.
Travel Requirement: This position involves extensive travel (up to 75% of working time) to support project delivery across various regional and national sites.Key Responsibilities
- System Installation: Set up comprehensive lightning protection systems (air terminals, conductors, bonding, and grounding). Partner and coordinate with electrical contractors to integrate surge protection components.
- Testing & Inspection: Evaluate existing systems to verify operational integrity, diagnose faults, perform necessary upgrades, and ensure full compliance with national safety codes.
- Blueprints & Tech Specs: Review, interpret, and implement layouts from construction drawings, blueprints, and technical schematics.
- Elevated Field Work: Safely work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and structural roofs to install required equipment.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise records of installations, system tests, and maintenance activities for compliance and client reporting.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a professional on-site point of contact, collaborating effectively with project managers, general contractors, and property owners.
- Safety First: Maintain strict adherence to OSHA regulations and job-site safety protocols; properly manage and maintain all testing tools and equipment.
- Professional Development: Actively participate in structured, on-the-job training aligned with a recognized apprenticeship pathway (5,000–8,000 hours).
Candidate Requirements
- Industry Experience: A solid background within the construction, electrical, or a closely related trade environment.
- Project Familiarity: Proven experience working on commercial and/or industrial construction sites.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to confidently read technical drawings and follow precise engineering standards.
- Safety Conscious: Strong working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and construction safety practices.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and a detailed approach to documentation.
- Preferred Credentials: Active certifications from the Lightning Protection Institute (LPI) or Underwriters Laboratories (UL) are highly advantageous but not strictly required.
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
