RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY:
- Performs ultrasound examinations on patients.
- Works closely with physicians to support diagnosis and patient care.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Finger dexterity. Seeing. Hearing. Speaking.
B. MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:
- Infrequent: N/A
- Occasional: Lift waist to shoulder between 11-20 lbs. Carry between 11-20 lbs.
- Frequent: Push and Pull between 36-50 lbs.
- Constant: N/A
C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:
- Infrequent: N/A
- Occasional: Kneel. Squat. Climb: Stairs/Ladder.
- Frequent: Stand. Walk. Stoop/Bend. Twist. Reach: shoulder level. Reach: above head.
?? Constant: Sit. Gripping.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Must be able to adjust schedule for “on-call” coverage involving, but not limited to, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- May be assigned to work at other departments, within The Queen's Medical Center location.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION:
- Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved school of Ultrasound Technology or other approved program as determined by the department; or registered Radiologic Technologist with two (2) years supervised work/training in diagnostic ultrasound.
B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Registered by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen and OB/GYN sonography. If only registered in one (1) certification upon hire, must obtain the other certification within twenty-four (24) months of entrance into the position.
- Current BLS certification.
C. EXPERIENCE:
- Prior recent experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer in acute health care facility preferred.
