As a Prep Cook at Barclay Friends, you will play a key role in preparing daily meals for our residents. You’ll be responsible for prepping food items, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and ensuring that all food safety and quality standards are met. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare food items needed for daily service, including chopping vegetables, making sauces, and prepping other ingredients.
- Assist with preparing food for special events or other kitchen stations as needed, supporting the overall kitchen team.
- Organize and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring it is clean and functioning properly.
- Set up your station at the start of your shift and restock supplies throughout the day to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures according to facility policies and health regulations.
- Use and maintain all kitchen equipment correctly and safely.
- Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation specifications to ensure the highest quality meals for our residents.
- Work quickly and efficiently to maintain fast, accurate service.
- Assist with dishwashing duties if needed, helping to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and food safety guidelines.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
- Must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
- Flexible and willing to take on various tasks in the kitchen as needed.
