Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic High School English Teacher to inspire and engage students in the exploration of language, literature, and effective communication. The program is secular, but many of our students are from Christian conservative families, so an understanding and adaptability for these types of families is needed.
Duties
- We are following an exciting curriculum called Byline, which takes kids through principles of writing through historical "chronojournalism."
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance classroom engagement and facilitate interactive learning experiences.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and ongoing feedback.
- Provide individualized support through tutoring, mentoring, and differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive behavior management strategies to create a safe and inclusive environment.
- Incorporate research-based practices from fields like linguistics, education administration, and special education to improve teaching effectiveness.
- Support students’ extracurricular interests such as creative writing clubs or journalism projects to foster their passion for language arts.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience at the high school level is highly desirable, within home or school settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored for high school learners.
- Strong knowledge of literacy education techniques, standardized testing procedures, and classroom management strategies.
- Experience working with diverse student populations including those requiring special education accommodations or behavior management support.
- Familiarity with working with learning technology platforms and digital resources to enhance instruction.
- Proven ability to mentor students effectively while fostering their academic growth and personal development.
- Excellent communication skills combined with organizational skills necessary for collaborative teamwork and educational administration tasks.
