SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $60,000
Full-Time - Exempt
School Description:
Eugenio María de Hostos Charter School is a K-12 school, serving over 900 students.
EMHCS offers a dual language program and a Spanish Language Arts program for grades 3-12. Our school is fortunate to have staff, students and parents working together to create partnerships for learning.
Summary of Position:
The School Social Worker will assist the teachers, coaches and assistant principals with student mental health concerns, behavioral concerns and support, including issues with academic and classroom. The social worker will consult with the teachers, parents and administrators to provide the best service to the student.
Responsibilities include:
- Help students function effectively in the school environment.
- Work with students in areas that may require assistance or counseling.
- Communicate with parent, teachers and students.
- Maintain accurate case files and reports.
- Proper tracking of student’s issues and progress.
- Assist in remediation and provide treatment plans.
- Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) process.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience in social work.
- Previous experience in school setting
- Professionalism and integrity.
- Advocacy skills.
- Ability to work and respond to the needs of diverse group of students.
- Knowledge of counseling models and practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data
- Computer literacy

Qualifications:
- Master Degree in Social Work required
- LCSW license required
- Additional subject area NY State Teaching Certificate a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
