Overview
This position consists of driving a refrigerated box truck to our local farms to pickup eggs from the farms and bring them to our packing facility. Pickups will be every other Saturday and the pay is $300/day. This is a simple side gig to make some extra cash every other week.
Added benefit: free eggs.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class B box truck along designated local routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and safety.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize delivery routes and meet scheduled timeframes.
- Handle refrigerated materials, maintaining proper temperature controls for perishable goods.
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations during all operations.
- Load, secure, and unload freight such as shell egg products following safety protocols.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure truck safety and maintenance needs are addressed promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, delivery documentation, and compliance records in line with company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status or any issues encountered on route.
Experience
- Valid CDL B license with a clean driving record; experience with lift gates preferred.
- Prior experience driving commercial trucks, including route driving and freight delivery.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trucks or trailers is a plus.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures and safety standards for food products.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for efficient routing.
- Experience with forklift operation or other material handling equipment is advantageous but not required.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and safety protocols related to commercial truck driving.
Pay: $300.00 per day
