Model Elementary
TOSA, Teacher on Special Assignment (Assistant to the Principal)
All positions begin as a one year contract, but have the potential to move to a permanent contract.
POSITION PURPOSE: Use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. This position will include assuming responsibilities for the building operation during the principal’s absence
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

If not already trained in the teacher evaluation system, attend training to be trained in the understanding of all processes including ILT meetings, cluster meetings, field testing, and the evaluation system.

Serve as an instructional leader by being an active member on the Instructional Leadership Team.

Supervise classified employees by assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, discipline, and resolving issues.

Implement and monitor school-wide behavioral expectations and policies; create student behavior contracts, address safety and welfare issues by holding meetings with parents, investigating incidents, documenting findings, contacting proper authorities and conforming to legal requirements and regulations.

Monitor attendance trends including overseeing adherence to the Elkhart County Attendance Policy.

Represent principal in IEP meetings (when principal is unavailable)

Collaborate and communicate closely with administrator/office staff on school related issues

Other duties and special projects as assigned by the building principal.
REQUIREMENTS: Valid Indiana License - Administration. Will consider those enrolled in Administrative licensure program.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful classroom instruction and management

TAP trained preferred
WORK CALENDAR: School year - 184 days per year; 40 hours per week
SALARY: Teaching Contract – 184 days
