Application Period: We are currently accepting applications for the Forestry Technician 1 (FT1) and Forestry Technician 2 (FT2) positions.
FT1 & FT2 are seasonal positions lasting up to 9 months. Forestry Technicians are members of the Northern Sonoma County Fire Fuels Crew. Duties include:
- Responsible for operating power and hand tools to limb up trees
- Remove small trees, bushes and other vegetation
- Move cut vegetation to a chipper and feed vegetation into the chipper
FT1: Seasonal position with an hourly rate of $23.15/hour. This position does not require previous vegetation management experience.
FT2: Seasonal position with an hourly rate of $25/hour. This position requires at least 3 months of previous vegetation management experience.
Our Fuels Crew does not respond to fires.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old at the time of employment, valid driver’s license, and high school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving of heavy objects. Strength, stamina, and agility are necessary to hike steep, uneven terrain while carrying equipment. Work is performed primarily in wildland settings in all weather conditions.
