Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Authorizations Coordinator to join our team at our Santa Barbara location. This is an in-office position. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing various administrative tasks within our healthcare organization. This position requires a strong understanding of managed care, HIPAA compliance, pre-authorizations and medical terminology, along with excellent communication skills to facilitate interactions between patients, providers, and staff. Previous Authorizations experience is required, and Athena EMR experience is a plus.
Duties
- Manages patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Secures necessary pre-authorizations for medical treatments
- Coordinates with insurance companies and healthcare providers to ensure smooth processing of services.
- Collaborates with office staff to streamline operations and enhance patient experience.
- Provides support, including scheduling appointments and managing correspondence.
- Facilitates communication between healthcare providers and patients regarding treatment plans and insurance inquiries.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managed care or a similar healthcare environment is required.
- Previous experience in prior authorizations is required.
- Familiarity medical terminology is essential.
- Experience with ICD-10, CPT codes and HCPCS.
- Experience with Athena EHR system and Klara a plus
- Experience working with a surgery practice or similar. Orthopedics a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Proficiency in office software applications to support administrative functions.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
