Position Summary
The Barista/FOH position is a guest-facing role that requires active and clear communication with customers and team members while operating in a fast-paced environment. This role involves moving frequently between the counter and kitchen, taking verbal orders, answering customer questions, and coordinating food and drink preparation with the back-of-house team.
Essential Job Functions (Core Duties Required to Perform This Role):
- Greet customers, take orders verbally, answer menu questions, and suggest items.
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with kitchen staff, runners, and other team members.
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty drinks to Toast x Bowl standards.
- Call out customer names and orders when items are ready.
- Respond quickly to customer requests or changes during service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workspace.
- Handle POS/cash transactions accurately.
- Move between front counter and kitchen areas throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety and café safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Passion for customer service and hospitality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills required.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and carry items for extended periods.
- Weekend and holiday availability preferred.
- Prior café/barista experience is a plus but not required — we will train the right person.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
