POSITION SUMMARY
Contracted - Temporary 4 months. We are seeking individuals with experience collecting raw roadway data in the field through vehicle-based surveys, utilizing LiDAR systems and GPS equipment to capture accurate geospatial information.

All Locations. Mainland U.S. Only. The Vehicle Operator plays a key role in Acquisitions’ workflow by managing the operation of the vehicle that uses Lidar, digital imagery systems and GPS instruments to collect raw data for map production system. Position can be based out of any state in the country. Relocation is not required.
MAIN DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project pre-planning.
- Operates vehicle in safe and orderly manner
- Ensure accurate collection of data.
- Operates lidar, digital imagery system and GPS instrument.
- Record and update drive logs and daily reports.
- Responsible for the full cycle operation of ground-based survey equipment including GPS and other hardware as directed by the LiDar System Tech Lead.
- Assist in the review and documentation of the processes and procedures with the Acquisitions Supervisor.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- This position will require extended travel of up to 25 days in the field. A significant amount of time during acquisition operations in a vehicle.
- An equivalent of a post-secondary two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or GIS surveying and/or a minimum of two year’s GIS survey related field experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Sound knowledge in computers and GIS
- Sound knowledge of LiDAR systems of varying manufacturers
- Must have a valid driver’s license, passport, and be able to travel internationally.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs overhead.
- Must be able to climb 2-3 feet off the ground and occasionally uninstall and reinstall the LiDAR equipment.
- Strong and effective decision-making skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Extensive field travel averaging 36 weeks per year with rotations up to 25 days (longer under certain circumstances i.e. project demands and upon Director approval). During field days, a 24-hour on-call schedule is required
- International and domestic travel and long distance driving in various climate conditions.
- Confined spaces, frequent motion in vehicle up to six hours per day.

- Understanding of survey technologies and lidar technologies preferred
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to build longstanding relationships
- Knowledge of set up, operation and break down of GPS ground station equipment
- Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
- Keen analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience working in Automotive industry
