Job Description
The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Grounds Project Manager when present and assuming supervisory duties in their absence. This position requires rigid compliance with written government contract standards in accordance with the Performance Work Statement. This is a working management position which reports directly to the Grounds Project Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager when present and assume the oversight of the daily workflow of the Grounds contract in their absence.
Be conscious of and adhere to the mission of New Leaf: “To promote independence and quality of life through employment.”
Maintain contract requirements for security of government buildings, contracted spaces, company equipment and supplies, including strict adherence to all required government security regulations/policies.
Be familiar with and in compliance with written government contract standards in accordance with the Performance Work Statement, in addition to being familiar with and able to interpret maps; both paper and digital.
Assist with the development and coordinate plans for meeting required safety and health standards. Correct or report all possible safety hazards. Document all safety meetings, attach a copy of specific subjects covered, and submit documentation of same to the Safety Administrator in a timely manner.
Oversees the appropriate use of equipment, facilities and materials needed for certain tasks and/or jobs.
Participate with human resources staff as appropriate, in the development and monitoring of individual evaluations and/or training programs. Attending production and training meetings as required.
Duties/Responsibilities
Prepare reports on activity, personnel, and information, such as occupancy, hours worked, work performed, and departmental expenses.
Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency.
Communicate with staff to resolve performance and personnel problems, and to discuss company policies.
Perform mowing, trimming, edging, mulching, aeration and fertilization; weed and brush control; flower bed services; tree and shrub pruning; debris and ditch clean up.
Removes all rubbish, debris and trash which includes but is not limited to rocks, paper, pine, limbs and other portable objects.
Requires working in inclement weather and occasionally drive tractors and/or mowers necessitating the need to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and navigate slopes.
Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
Pay & Benefits
$21.61/Hour (Current Department of Labor Wage Determination Rate)

Paid sick leave – accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

Schedule
Monday-Friday 8am – 4:30pm with a half hour lunch. (35-40 hours a week).
Saturdays are sometimes required during peak season (April-June).
Potential for seasonal layoffs Oct-March. Also potential for winter work and advancement for high-achieving employees.

Valid driver's license
Must obtain a Restricted and Unrestricted License for Flight Line Access.
This position requires the ability to do repetitive movements, standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and reaching.
Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel equipment, tools, and other objects.
Requires the use of foot controls.
Ability to work in diverse weather conditions (i.e. wet, cold, and hot).
Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must wear full length pants and steel toed boots/shoes. Reflective Safety vest will be provided by New Leaf. Steel toed boots/shoes expenses will be reimbursed annually up to $50 per year.
Main Physical Requirements
Ability to work outside up to 8 hours a day, including standing, walking, and working on steep inclines such as hills and un-level ground.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. / push and pull up to 70lbs.
Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and good sense of balance.
Once trained, must be able to operate a 12lb trimmer for up to 6 hours.
