American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU/PCU travel assignment in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active AZ or Compact RN licensure.

Acute care hospital setting in an Acuity Adaptable Multi-Care Unit (MCU) managing ICU, PCU, and med-surg levels of care within a single 10-bed unit
-
Patient population includes medical ICU cases such as sepsis, suicide attempts, drug/alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, post-op complications, and PCU patients requiring non-titratable infusions for hemodynamic management

Patient ratios vary by acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, med-surg 1:5-6; if no nursing aide, RN provides primary care at 1:3

RNs are required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
-
Respiratory therapy support available for vents, BiPAP, and CPAP; RNs manage bedside cardiac monitoring for ICU patients and must perform 12-lead EKGs

Remote Monitor Techs support PCU and med-surg telemetry; Cerner EMR used
-
12-hour day shifts (0700–1930), every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for days)

Float requirements include the EC med-surg and pediatric units (adult assignments only) and the West Campus ICU/PCU in Prescott; two-hour notice given before floating

Standby rotation applies during low census periods

Holiday rotation required

Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; candidates with 1 year ICU and 1 year PCU/med-surg from larger facilities with strong skills may be considered

Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) with a score of at least 80% within two attempts prior to offer confirmation
-
2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate

Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past 12 months (those employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)

Profile review and manager interview are part of the selection process

On the first day of orientation, RNs are given a pass/fail skills test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes

Failing either the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the sterile technique test on the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status at CommonSpirit facilities in Arizona and Sacramento, CA

Orientation consists of hospital orientation followed by unit-specific orientation (12 orientation hours)

Charge RN oversees 50 inpatient beds including med-surg, peds, and the MCU
