Walking Floor Driver
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Walking Floor Driver to transport bulk materials using a walking floor trailer. The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial vehicles, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to complete deliveries efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle with a walking floor trailer.
- Transport and deliver bulk materials to customer locations according to scheduled routes.
- Load and unload materials using the walking floor trailer system.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections.
- Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Secure loads and ensure cargo is transported safely.
- Report mechanical issues, accidents, or delays promptly.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Current DOT medical card.
- Clean driving record.
- Experience operating a walking floor trailer preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb in and out of the truck multiple times per day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of performing routine vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience.
- Experience hauling agricultural products, mulch, compost, wood chips, recyclables, or other bulk materials.
- Forklift or heavy equipment experience is a plus.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time
- Overtime and occasional weekends may be required based on business needs.
