This Leadership Coach supports the development of a leadership coaching program within the Jones Center for Leadership and Service (JCLS). This position works directly with undergraduate and graduate students to provide individualized, group, and peer-to-peer coaching experiences that support leadership identity, efficacy, and capacity necessary for personal, academic, civic/career outcomes. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this position partners closely with JCLS professional staff to build coaching frameworks, design program infrastructure, and contribute to a culture of intentional leader and leadership development across campus. This position also supports faculty and staff training initiatives, including programs centered on coach-like approaches to leadership and service.
Required Qualifications
- Education: This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience: One year of experience coaching, mentoring, or advising undergraduate or high school students. This may include time as a student leader or graduate student.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Working knowledge of coaching principles, frameworks, and ethical practice standards
Familiarity with International Coaching Federation (ICF) competencies and credentialing structure
Strong interpersonal and active listening skills
Ability to build trust and maintain professional coaching relationships with diverse student populations
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents to foster positive and productive relationships
Ability to show initiative, make sound decisions, work independently, and manage multiple priorities
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: This position prefers a master's degree in higher education, counseling, organizational leadership, or a related field.
- Experience: Professional experience in a higher education or student affairs setting. Experience in the following areas: individual and group coaching with college students; curriculum development and workshop facilitation; advising student organizations or leadership programs; assessment and program evaluation.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Active ICF credential at the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) or Professional Certified Coach (PCC) level
Certified CliftonStrengths coach or demonstrated experience using CliftonStrengths as a coaching tool
Skilled in leadership development programming and coaching program design
Knowledge of student development theory and its application to coaching practice
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant student engagement or coaching management platforms
