About PC Repair Center
PC Repair Center is looking for a hands-on Lead Computer Repair Technician / Shop Operations Manager to help run our repair shops, lead our technical team, and make sure every customer receives fast, honest, high-quality service.
This role is for someone who can do more than repair computers. We need a senior technician who can diagnose difficult issues, keep repair flow organized, support junior techs, communicate clearly with customers, and help management keep the shops running smoothly.
What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for leading daily repair operations across our shops, including:
- Diagnose and repair Windows PCs, laptops, desktops, gaming PCs, and related hardware.
- Handle advanced troubleshooting for no-boot systems, liquid damage, failed drives, motherboard issues, malware, OS corruption, data migration, and performance problems.
- Review open tickets and make sure repairs are moving quickly and accurately.
- Set technical standards for diagnostics, documentation, quality control, and customer communication.
- Support and train technicians on repair process, troubleshooting, parts handling, and customer service.
- Help prioritize urgent repairs, business customers, warranty issues, and customer escalations.
- Communicate repair findings and options to customers in clear, professional language.
- Maintain shop organization, repair bench flow, parts usage, and ticket notes.
- Work with ownership/management to improve turnaround time, repair quality, sales conversion, and customer satisfaction.
- Help identify hiring needs, training gaps, recurring repair issues, and process improvements.
What We’re Looking For
The right person should be a strong technician and a calm, organized shop leader.
Required:
- 5+ years of hands-on computer repair, IT support, or similar technical experience.
- Strong diagnostic ability with Windows PCs, laptops, desktops, hardware failures, software problems, and data issues.
- Experience working directly with customers in a repair, retail, help desk, or service environment.
- Ability to lead other technicians without micromanaging.
- Strong written documentation skills for repair tickets and customer notes.
- Comfortable explaining technical problems in simple terms.
- Reliable, organized, punctual, and able to take ownership of shop results.
- Ability to work in person at shop locations in San Diego County.
Preferred:
- Prior lead technician, shop manager, service manager, or team lead experience.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Apple, or similar certifications.
- Experience with Mac repairs, data recovery, networking, printers, business IT support, POS systems, or ticketing systems.
- Experience ordering parts, managing repair queues, or checking technician work.
- Background in small business IT, MSP support, or retail electronics repair.
What Makes Someone Successful Here
You will do well in this role if you:
- Can diagnose quickly but do not cut corners.
- Care about clean documentation and professional customer communication.
- Can coach junior techs while still producing your own repairs.
- Stay calm when the shop is busy.
- Take responsibility for the customer experience, not just the repair ticket.
