Online Reading Volunteers / Program Manager - Part-Time Role
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Seeking a dynamic self-motivated individual for a Part Time position into support our Online Reading Volunteer program. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and relationship building skills and serve as a liaison connecting corporate volunteers and teachers to support early literacy development of first and second grade students. Chapter One is a non-profit dedicated to making sure all students can read by the end of first grade.
We are looking for “owners” responsible for managing the overall success of the program in a defined territory.
A program manager is a self-starter who works well with all types of people, is positive, professional, and committed to the cause of helping first and second grade students in under-represented schools learn to read.
The role of the program manager supports volunteers and teachers and includes relationship building, success tracking, and issue resolution. The program manager must have exceptional communication skills, comfortable with conflict resolution, and have basic knowledge of computers. Support is provided either remotely or in person, depending on the district being served.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Self-starter who can work remotely and do school site visits.

Outstanding communicator (written & oral) possessing diplomacy and a positive communication style.

Understand the power of online relationship building.

Strong organizational skills.

Detail oriented and tenacious in your outreach and follow up.

Professional but friendly; patient but persistent.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Teaching experience highly recommended

Customer service experience a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management:
-
Oversee the daily operations of the Online Reading Volunteer Program across multiple partner schools.

Develop and maintain program timelines to ensure successful launches, implementation, and completion.

Ensure program goals, milestones, and key performance indicators are consistently achieved
School Partnership Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned schools.

Build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, and literacy staff.

Coordinate onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing communication with school partners (teachers, literacy coaches, administrators, etc.)
Student Success & Program Quality:

Monitor student participation and reading session completion.

Collaborate with educators to support student progress.

Ensure program fidelity and adherence to established volunteer practices on the Chapter One platform.
Technology & Operations:

Troubleshoot operational and technical issues in partnership with the technology team
Job Type: Part Time, Hybrid
Pay Rate: $25/her
Schedule: Monday- Friday, variable hours between 9am and 3pm, up to 3 hours per day
