What are we looking for in a Vice President of Acute Care & Crisis Stabilization?
The purpose of this role is to provide integrated strategic and operational oversight for the organization's crisis care continuum, spanning community-based diversion and short-term inpatient stabilization, ensuring exceptional patient throughput, operational efficiency, and consistent clinical quality across all service delivery platforms, reporting to the EVP.

Position Summary:
As a senior leader, this position serves as the cultural and operational anchor for the crisis care continuum. Key Success Measures
-
Program Capacity, Length of Stay, and Revenue Integrity: Maintains an average facility occupancy rate of at least 90% at each assigned program, ensures average length of stay remains within established program benchmarks and payer-authorized bed days, and keeps payer denials below 10% of total admissions.

Adherence to Budget: Ensure the combined operating budget for all programs under this VP remains within the organizational goal of ±3% of the approved budget.

Regulatory Compliance and Safe Transitions: Maintains zero critical regulatory findings across all crisis services and keeps safety incidents during patient transfers and transitions between levels of care below 5% of all completed transitions.
Key Activities:
- Integrate Crisis Continuum and Flow: Oversee and manage the end-to-end patient flow from diversion programs into and out of short-term inpatient crisis units, focusing on reducing avoidable hospitalizations and ensuring seamless transitions across the service lines.

Drive Operational Performance & Consistency: Translate the EVP’s strategic directives into actionable operational plans for both the community/diversion and inpatient crisis teams, ensuring consistent execution and adherence to standardized care models.

Ensure Crisis Safety, Quality, and Compliance: Provide expert oversight to mitigate high-acuity risks specific to crisis services, ensuring regulatory compliance and achieving high standards of clinical quality across the entire continuum.

Manage Financial & Contractual Outcomes: Accountable for the financial performance and resource allocation of both the Community/Diversion and Short-Term Inpatient Crisis departments, ensuring contracted performance targets and utilization metrics are met.

Develop and Mentor Director-Level Leadership: Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to the two reporting directors to cultivate a high-performing, resilient, and accountable leadership team.

Leadership & Team Development: Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for staff, establish department goals and accountability standards, support staff development and operational consistency across crisis functions
Skills & Experience:
- Preferred experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-site service environments

Demonstrated experience in strategic and operational leadership within high-acuity behavioral health or crisis care settings

Expertise in managing integrated care models, specifically community-based diversion and short-term inpatient stabilization.

Strong financial acumen with a track record of managing operating budgets and ensuring revenue integrity

Deep understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and safety standards in crisis services.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Social Work or related field preferred

Minimum of (3) years of progressively responsible crisis management experience

Minimum of (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience

Experience overseeing multi-site operations and teams

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between agency locations
