In this fast-paced dynamic role, you will serve as the central communication hub within the nursing unit, coordinating patient flow, managing medical records, and supporting clinical staff to ensure seamless operations of the nursing unit. Your proactive, energetic attitude and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff.
Duties
- Act as the primary point of contact at the nursing desk, greeting patients, families, and visitors with professionalism and warmth
- Schedule appointments, coordinate patient intake, and manage medical office calendars using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) Point Click Care.
- Coordinate, order, and work with outside vendors such as lab, x-ray, etc.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards including daily filing and chart thinning
- Assist clinical staff with administrative tasks such as, updating patient information, and managing referrals
- Answer multi-line phone systems efficiently while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Support office management activities including filing, data entry (10 key typing).
- Transcribing physician orders
- Reviewing and transcribing hospital discharge paperwork
- Knowledge and experience working with insurance on scheduling medical transportation
- Medical terminology knowledge required
- Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with familiarity in clinic operations and medical administrative support.
- Experience working with Point Click Care, preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced environments.
- Previous experience in long-term care health information, preferred
- Training in medical records, preferred
- Knowledge of regulations, documentation requirements, preferred
