JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Facility / Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all plant equipment, building systems, and maintenance personnel within a powder metal manufacturing facility. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, capital projects, spare parts management, contractor coordination, and facility infrastructure to support continuous production operations.
The Maintenance Manager works closely with production, engineering, quality, safety, and purchasing departments to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
Manage all plant maintenance activities for powder metal production equipment including:
Compaction presses
Sinter furnaces
Hydraulic systems
Conveyors
Dust collection systems
CNC/machining equipment
Mixers and blenders
Heat treat equipment
Cooling systems and compressors
Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls-related issues.
Reduce unplanned downtime through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Monitor equipment performance and reliability metrics.
Facility Management
Oversee facility systems including:
HVAC
Electrical distribution
Compressed air systems
Water systems
Fire suppression systems
Building structure and grounds
Coordinate outside contractors and service vendors.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local regulations.
Maintain plant housekeeping and maintenance shop organization.
Leadership & Supervision
Supervise maintenance technicians, electricians, and outside contractors.
Schedule labor coverage for production support and emergency repairs.
Train and develop maintenance personnel.
Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions when required.
Promote a safety-first culture throughout the department.
Inventory & Purchasing
Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and MRO supplies.
Coordinate parts ordering and vendor relationships.
Maintain accurate records in CMMS systems such as:
Megamation DirectLine
Control maintenance budgets and repair costs.
Continuous Improvement
Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in capital equipment installations and upgrades.
Improve PM completion rates and maintenance response times.
Assist engineering with equipment modifications and process improvements.
Education & Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in: Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent experience
5+ years maintenance experience in manufacturing.
3+ years leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in powder metal, metal stamping, machining, heat treat, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent walking, standing, and sitting in both office and manufacturing environments.
Occasionally lift and move materials or equipment up to 35 pounds.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Visual acuity required for inspections and documentation review.
Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting may be required.
Non-standard/off-shift hours may be necessary for project support.
