We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Instructional Paraprofessionals or Behavioral Technicians to work with Alexandria City Public Schools and nearby districts for the ‘26-’27 school year and beyond!
You will be instrumental in creating a positive and productive learning environment, working with students from pre-K to high school. In this role, you will provide support in either a 1:1 or general classroom capacity.
Compensation:
Instructional Paraprofessional: $18.00 - $19.00 / hr
Behavioral Technician: $20.00 - $21.00 / hr

What You'll Do
You'll be placed in one of two support models based on your background and the district's needs:
- 1:1 Student Support: Travel with a specific student throughout their school day, providing tailored behavioral and academic support to help them meet their individual goals.
- General Classroom Support: Work alongside a lead teacher to assist multiple students in a structured classroom environment. No two days look the same.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Implementing behavioral support strategies in real time
- Communicating clearly and calmly with students, teachers, and administration
- Staying active throughout the day (standing, walking, occasional lifting up to 40 lbs)
- Contributing to a collaborative, student-first team culture
- Assisting with personal care and hygiene needs as required
Requirements:
Instructional Paraeducator:
- Minimum two years of higher education completed, or an equivalent (48 semester credits or 72 quarter units) of higher education.
- A passing ParaPro test score can be substituted for the education requirement.
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring children in any capacity
- Certified in CPR (or willingness to obtain)
Behavioral Technician/Aide:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) OR experience with behavioral management
- CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred:
Prior school or classroom experience
Experience supporting students with autism or other special needs
