Alamo Group's Corporate Headquarters is currently located in Seguin, TX but we will be making the move to a brand-new office located in New Braunfels, TX by the end of this year.
This is an in-office position with the opportunity to move into a hybrid role once the selected individual is fully onboarded.
Requirements:
The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) is a key member of the leadership team and serves as the enterprise lead for all accounting, financial reporting, and controllership activities, with direct accountability for the integrity, timeliness, and governance of financial information across the enterprise. The CAO ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and the implementation of robust internal controls. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining a culture of accounting excellence and timely, high-quality financial information that supports decision-making and shareholder confidence. The CAO is a strong change manager with clear accountability for execution and measurable improvement outcomes, including policy harmonization, compliance and control frameworks, process optimization, and organizational capability enhancement. The CAO is a collaborative business partner, talent builder, and systems-savvy leader with a clear vision for the future of the function, focused on enabling the business to reach its long-term success.
Accounting Leadership and Governance
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the company's global accounting and controllership function.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with U.S. GAAP and other applicable requirements.
- Ensure accurate, timely, complete recording of financial transactions across all entities and business units.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, including compliance with SOX or similar frameworks as applicable.
- Serve as the final internal authority on complex accounting matters and judgments, partnering with the CFO and other leaders as needed.
- Own enterprise controllership outcomes, including accounting judgments, estimates, and control remediation, with authority to escalate issues as needed.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations (Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) and oversee global consolidation processes for Alamo Group Inc.
- Ensure integrity and consistency of financial reporting across divisions, legal entities, and geographies.
- Partner with the CFO on external reporting requirements, including SEC filings and other regulatory or statutory reporting as applicable.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party service providers.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, assessing impact and leading implementation across the organization.
- Support the CFO in presenting accounting matters, judgments, and disclosures to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
- Ensure high-quality, decision‑useful disclosures, including critical accounting policies and estimates.
Transformation, Systems and Process Excellence
- Lead the transformation of the accounting function toward best-in-class processes, controls, and service levels.
- Own the accounting systems and process transformation roadmap, including data governance, close acceleration, and reporting automation.
- Leverage data and analytics to enhance transparency, forecasting accuracy, and management insight.
- Drive standardization and simplification of accounting processes across business units while respecting appropriate local requirements.
- Champion the effective use of ERP and related systems, reporting tools, and automation technologies to improve quality, efficiency, and transparency.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging metrics and stakeholder feedback to prioritize efforts.
- Ensure that systems and processes are scalable to support growth, including acquisitions and new business models.
M&A Integration and Change Management
- Lead accounting integration efforts for acquired businesses, including chart of accounts alignment, policy harmonization, and reporting integration.
- Ensure Day 1 and post-close accounting readiness, including opening balance sheets, purchase accounting, and internal control integration.
- Partner with Corporate Development, Finance & Strategy, and business leaders to ensure that acquisitions are accurately reflected in financial records and reporting.
- Implement change management practices that help teams adopt new processes, systems, and ways of working with clarity and engagement.
- Assess accounting and control environments in acquired entities and develop and execute plans to address gaps and risks.
- Communicate a clear vision for the future state of the accounting function and engage teams at all levels in the transformation journey.
Talent Leadership, Culture and Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and controllership team, building depth of talent and succession for critical roles.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration within the accounting function and across Finance.
- Promote a business-partnering mindset—supporting operational and commercial leaders with insight and guidance rather than simply enforcing rules.
- Model and reinforce behaviors that align with the company's values and leadership competencies.

Cross-Functional Partnership and Business Support
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Operations, IT, and other functions to ensure alignment of accounting outcomes with business objectives.
- Provide accounting insight and perspectives on key business initiatives, contracts, and commercial arrangements.
- Support the CFO, VP – Finance & Strategy, VP – Operations Finance and business unit leaders with timely, accurate accounting information and analysis.
- Communicate complex accounting topics in clear, practical language for non-accounting stakeholders.
- Represent the accounting function in enterprise initiatives, including system implementations, policy updates, and strategic projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
- Expert-level knowledge of U.S. GAAP, extensive knowledge of the SEC reporting and other relevant regulations, and technical accounting experience. Familiarity with global regulations, IFRS or other local accounting requirements.
- Deep understanding of accounting operations, consolidation, internal controls, and financial reporting processes in a multi-entity, multi-site environment.
- Strong systems orientation, including experience with ERP platforms, consolidation tools, and reporting/analytics solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale process and system changes, including change management across diverse teams.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of developing and engaging accounting talent. Strong change management skillset.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Typically, 15+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, including leadership roles in complex, multi-entity organizations.
- Experience in a publicly traded company and/or with SEC reporting requirements required.
- Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and familiarity with preparing board materials.
- Demonstrated experience leading accounting transformation initiatives, including system implementations and process redesign.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similarly operationally intensive environment preferred.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in an office environment, with occasional walking in and around a manufacturing plant. May be required to travel 50% or more of the time by automobile and/or common air carrier with overnight stays required.
