Position Purpose: The Nursing Director (ND) is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of nursing services within a Behavioral and Mental Health facilities (3) specializing in Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and Eating Disorders (EDs). This leadership role ensures quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational excellence. The ND works closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, and medical staff to uphold best practices in patient safety, evidence-based care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Position Specific Competencies:
1. Effectively educates, develops, and evaluates the competencies of supervised staff to ensure continuous professional growth, role proficiency, and alignment with organizational standards.
2. Ensure compliance with medication management protocols, infection control, and treatment guidelines.
3. Implement and oversee infection control, medical emergency response(s), and medical error reporting protocols.
4. Directly supervise and schedule RNs and LPNs for 3 loctaions.
5. Know and maintain professional communication skills: verbal, written, and non-verbal communication
6. Understand and maintains the highest level of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) standards
Position Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
1. Core:
a) Provide direct oversight and supervision of all nursing staff and MHTs.
b) Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
c) Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet patient care needs and regulatory standards.
d) Conduct regular staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
e) Facilitate professional development opportunities and continuing education for nurses and MHTs.
f) Oversee patient assessments, care plans, and medical interventions.
g) Support interdisciplinary collaboration between nursing, clinical, and medical teams.
h) Monitor patient outcomes and quality assurance measures to ensure optimal care.
i) Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including Joint Commission and CARF standards.
j) Ensure proper documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
k) Conduct internal audits and prepare for external inspections.
l) Ensure MHTs are trained in patient monitoring, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.
m) Conduct regular performance evaluations and competency assessments for MHTs.
n) Ensure proper delegation of duties and adherence to facility safety protocols.
o) Develop and manage the nursing department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective staffing and resource utilization.
p) Coordinate procurement of medical supplies, medications, and equipment.
q) Implement strategies to reduce waste and optimize operational efficiency.
r) Serve as the point of contact for medical emergencies, behavioral incidents, and crisis interventions.
s) Ensure all nursing staff and MHTs are trained in emergency procedures, including CPR, crisis de-escalation, and suicide prevention.
t) Lead investigations into patient safety incidents and implement corrective action plans.
u) Act as a liaison between nursing, clinical, and administrative teams.
v) Attend and participate in executive meetings, treatment team discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
w) Communicate facility-wide updates, policy changes, and best practices to nursing and MHT staff.
x) Implements structured training programs, provides ongoing mentorship, and conducts regular performance assessments to identify strengths, address skill gaps, and promote career advancement.

Qualifications/Position Requirements:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred; however, equivalent industry experience and demonstrated job knowledge will be considered in lieu of formal education.
2. Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in within SUD, Eating Disorder, or Behavioral Health treatment settings, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
3. Certification/Licensure: Clear and active applicable FL License as Registered Nurse (RN) required or additional acceptable licensures: APRN, or PA. CPR/AED, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required; Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification preferred.
4. Training and Knowledge Required at Time of Hire: Infection Control and Compliance Training, HIPAA, patient rights, and trauma-informed care principles. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR), CRM systems, and data analytics tools. Excellent communication, customer service, and crisis management skills.
5. Age Specific Individuals Served/Responsibility: Adults (18+ years)
6. Security Measures and Clearance: Approved AHCA Level 2 screening required and local background.

7. Employment Classification: Full-time Salary Exempt (Full-time position with on-call responsibilities as needed. May require occasional evening or weekend availability crisis interventions, staff supervision and/or staff meetings.
Pay: From $115,000.00 per year
