As the Founding Studio Manager, you'll have a unique opportunity to launch and grow one of Wilmington's premier wellness destinations. This is more than a management position—it's an opportunity to build a business, develop an exceptional team, create an unforgettable member experience, and help establish a flagship studio for future expansion.
This position begins approximately 10–12 weeks prior to the studio's grand opening. During this period, the Studio Manager will lead pre-sale membership efforts, community partnerships, hiring, training, and operational readiness to ensure a successful launch.
Job Summary
The Studio Manager is responsible for leading every aspect of studio performance—from pre-sale and grand opening through ongoing operations. This leader will recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team while driving membership growth, retention, operational excellence, and community engagement.
Success in this role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to inspire both team members and guests. You will serve as the face of the studio, embodying the SWTHZ brand while leading with integrity, accountability, servant leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Sales, Membership Growth & Community Engagement (40%)
- Lead the studio's 10–12 week pre-sale strategy, executing community events, partnerships, networking opportunities, and outreach initiatives to achieve membership goals before opening.
- Build relationships with local healthcare providers, fitness facilities, employers, sports organizations, and community partners to generate referrals and increase brand awareness.
- Drive monthly membership, revenue, and retention goals through exceptional guest experiences and relationship-based selling.
- Coach and mentor Sales Associates on consultative selling, objection handling, and delivering an outstanding guest experience.
- Monitor key performance indicators including memberships, conversion rates, revenue, utilization, referrals, and member retention, using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with franchise marketing initiatives while executing local grassroots marketing campaigns that strengthen the studio's presence in the community.
Leadership & Team Development (40%)
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing team committed to delivering exceptional hospitality and member experiences.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative culture where employees feel valued, challenged, and empowered to succeed.
- Lead by example through professionalism, strong communication, humility, work ethic, and a servant leadership mindset.
- Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to maximize team performance.
- Create effective schedules, manage labor costs responsibly, and ensure appropriate staffing to meet business objectives.
Operational Excellence (20%)
- Oversee all day-to-day studio operations while ensuring every guest receives an exceptional experience.
- Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and professionally operated studio that consistently exceeds brand standards.
- Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, vendor relationships, and overall studio readiness.
- Ensure compliance with all company operating procedures, safety standards, and cleanliness protocols.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, member satisfaction, and financial performance.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Health & Wellness, or related field preferred
- CPR and AED Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- 2+ years of leadership experience in fitness, wellness, hospitality, retail, or another service-oriented business
- Demonstrated success leading teams and achieving sales goals
- Experience with relationship-based selling and delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Experience with community partnerships, networking, or local business development preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and move throughout the studio for extended periods
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed

Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
