Focus EduSolutions delivers Hello, It's Me®, a Medicaid-reimbursable assistive technology platform for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We're enrolling as an Assistive Technology provider with the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and are looking for a licensed clinician to lead AT evaluations and support for DDS-eligible adults.
The role. You perform or lead AT evaluations and support: assess needs, recommend the technology, write the evaluation report, build the support plan, and train the individual and their support network. Work runs on an as-needed basis when DDS Area and Regional offices engage us.
Required qualifications — hold one:
- Current valid Massachusetts license in occupational therapy (259 CMR 3.00), physical therapy (259 CMR 5.00), or speech-language pathology (260 CMR 2.00); or
- RESNA Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) or Rehabilitation Engineering Technologist (RET) certification with active RESNA membership.
For either path:
- Experience evaluating AT needs, exploring AT options, running functional assessments, and building AT support plans.
- Able to clear a Massachusetts CORI check, a national fingerprint background check, and the DPPC abuse registry check.
Strong fit (preferred):
- Fluency in technology-based AT: remote supports, environmental controls, AAC, cognitive and communication apps, daily living aids.
- Experience with adults with ID/DD, including autism spectrum disorder.
- Clear, timely report writing.
What you deliver:
- Conduct the evaluation where the person will use the device, or at an equipped facility.
- Deliver a written report with clear recommendations within two weeks of the evaluation.
- Develop the support plan, set up equipment, and train the individual and their support network.
- Coordinate with the individual's ISP team. (DDS caps evaluation near 12 hours and support near 15 hours per person per year.)
Engagement. Contracted consultant, per-engagement. Massachusetts-based or able to serve Massachusetts locally. Your evaluation is the front door that makes recommended technology reimbursable for the people we serve.
